WHAT HAPPENED TO THE WISHING WELL Bell
CLASS OF '63 WISHING WELL Bell -- PLEASE HELP I’m a reporter for the Elgin Courier News, working on a story about a bell/wishing well that the DCHS Class of ’63 gifted to the school for its graduation. The bell was in front of DCHS for several years, until the school did some remodeling in the late ‘70s. Now, no one knows what happened to the bell.
I’m trying to find anyone who may have been around in the late ‘70s, knows who was principal or on the school board at the time, or may know what happened to the bell/wishing well after it was removed. Pictures of the front of the school in 1979 show it’s not there anymore, so the remodeling must have been done before then. Please e-mail or call if you know of anyone who may be able to help in my search.

DCHS opened in 1873 and sadly closed its doors in 1983, after 110 years of operation. Cardunals throughout the years have been housed in 3 different buildings at 3 different locations:

Irving Crown opened in 1964 with only sophomores and juniors. The first graduating class was 1966. ICHS closed its doors in 1983, after only 19 years of operation. The Vikings were housed at:

A BRIEF HISTORY OF DUNDEEHS.COM
In 2001 dundeehs.com was born and through the help of numerous DCHS alumni sending in photos and information it has grown beyond all imaginations. We recently expanded the site to include both Dundee-Crown and Irving Crown High Schools as we are tied together in history.
Dundee Community High School closed its doors in 1983 and merged with Crown High School to form Dundee-Crown HS. This site is a small attempt to bring back the DCHS Cardunals & ICHS Vikings spirit and create a virtual home for its many alumni as we watch Dundee-Crown alumni march on.
Our site has two areas, a public area and a members only area. Members have access to the guestbook entries, alumni list, membership list, message boards, ILMs, obituaries, photos, alumni links, and fun facts. Non-members have access to the reunion info, photo stats, and can sign the guestbook. Anyone can join even non-alumni whose parents or grandparents attended DCHS, D-CHS, ICHS or perhaps an old flame of theirs attended DCHS, D-CHS, ICHS.
Our members only site uses Joomla, a Content Management System, which is what you will see once you are registered and signed on. Joomla allows us to wrap other programs into ours. This means you can view the guestbook and still stay on the main site. We are also using aMember software to handle our subscription memberships. We are still using Phorum (our alumni's favorite) for our message boards and have upgraded to the latest version. Yes, we are still using our same guestbook software.

We moved to a subscription website for several reasons. First, to help us enforce the rules, and second to share the burden of keeping the site running. This prevents that same small group of alumni from bearing the expense. Now everyone who joins keeps this site running in tiptop form.
